Voice dial and 1 800 555 tell, it's awesome!

Hi all, I'm just raving about my voice dial and the service, 1800555 tell. Voice dial is a service with my wireless provider that allows you to call a number or someone in your address book by your voice. It's ease of use and the fact that you access it by phone gives a person, blind or sighted total power over who they call, without having to carry a phone book, or have to remember a number. I'm talking about voicedial and 1800 555 tell at the same time because voice dial is made by tell me networks whom also provides the tell me service. With tell me, you can gain access to the news, weather in your area of your choosing, sports updates, find movie theaters in your area, find ring tones from your favorite artists, and best of all, business search. You can look up businesses in any city or state, find certain types of businesses, get the name, address and phone number of the desired business, and you can even get driving derections from your address to another address of your choosing. The number 1 benifit of tell me is that you can do all of this by using your phone. No, not online, but by just calling a number from any phone. It's all automated and you have this power by using your voice. I sent an email to the company, tell me networks, commenting on such a great service.
Voicedial on the other hand, you can access similar features, but voicedile offers wake up calls, where you can set it to call you at the time you want, instant alabye, which is quite cool. You can set it to call you and help you bail out of a situation when you'd rather be someplace else. For example, it will call and say my car broke down and I need you to come fix it. I don't think it works in a true situation, but you can use this to joke with your friends if you'd like.

Good to see you have something to be happy about. I hope to see rave topicks from you more often and less or no rants lol.

I think it's one of the best things since jaws, lol. I highly recommend tell me for anyone.Best of all, it's free to use. Voicedial, is free if you tell your provider that you have a disability. Also, I have other rave topics out there like raving about my website and about my phone.

One thing Download forgets to mention that this service doesn't work for most providers. I believe currently only Sprint and Verison are supported.

And Cingular/AtAndT.
I know that the 1800-555-tell works on Skype and probably normal phones also.

Oh yeah, and ATT. Well, not TMobile, Vergin Mobile, Trackphone, and a whole host of other providors.

Post 7 by Voldemort (Account disabled) on Tuesday, 02-Oct-2007 23:47:51

Providers.

Post 8 by audioadict (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Tuesday, 02-Oct-2007 23:52:54

I didn't know that. 1 800 555 tell can work with any phone, land line or wireless, but voicedial is a service with a wireless provider.

Well, it can do most things with wireless cellphones. For instance, you can't put ringtones on a phone from TMobile.

I should have said however.

Well, the ring tone feature of tell me works with cingular and sprint. I've never downloaded a tone from there, but I've listened to what ones they had.

I've used Tell Me since it had the Graffiti system. That goes wa'a'ay back. I love the service. It's changed alot over the years, but is still great. I just wish they still had Graffiti and the extentions. Those were neat. I forget whether this was mentioned, but they also have driving directions (the same ones you'll get on Mapquest) and horroscopes. Btw, for those of you who hate letters for numbers it's 1800-555-8355.

Shawna, if it's voice dial you want the number for, the service only works with cingular. I don't think it works with verizon. I could be wrong. I am now learning how the tell me service works, as far as programming goes. To design the automated system, they use a language called voice xml, vxml for short. With this language, you can develop voice recognition applications like tell me. The language seems to be easy and fairly accessible.

as far as i know, the 800 service works with any phone. you just can't access ring tones from a land line.

Post 20 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Thursday, 15-May-2008 22:26:38

Last time I called tell me, they didn't hav ring tones anymore. But yeah, its an awesome service.

Post 21 by lights_rage (I just keep on posting!) on Friday, 16-May-2008 3:51:08

ok, i have used tell me since they required that ya enter your phone number to see if ya could get on in your area. so march of 2000 or so. I have used telsurf, mytalk, college club, e-voice, net by phone, all sorts of crap voice dial only works with cingular that i know of. and its six bucks a month on your bill and for real, aint worth it when ya got a phone book on your computer or do the natural thing and write them down in braille because once, voice dial lost all my numbers it was not originally through tell me, cingular first developed the voice dial stuff on there own. i used it pre-tell me days.
then i got smart. and went back to t-mobile.

Well, After I gave proof of my disability, voicedial is now free! The only downside is that it can only hold 20 numbers at a time.

Post 24 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Friday, 12-Sep-2008 12:39:06
